Curriculum Theory II: Ideologies and Impact
This artifact takes a closer look at curriculum theory by examining how Texas’s education system connects to Social Reconstruction and Learner-Centered ideologies. It highlights how these ideas show up in real classroom practices.

Social Reconstruction Ideology in Texas Education
This artifact looks at how the Texas TEKS and A–F Accountability System connect to the Social Reconstruction ideology, which focuses on helping students question injustice and work toward a more fair society. I argue that while the Closing the Gaps domain shows some awareness of inequities, the system doesn’t really push students to think about why those gaps exist or what caused them. Learner-Centered Ideology and the Texas System
This artifact looks at how the Texas TEKS and A–F Accountability System connect to the Learner-Centered ideology, which focuses on students’ interests, curiosity, and growth. I argue that Texas’s standardized curriculum and test-driven system go almost completely against what Learner-Centered education is about. Click the link below to read the full analysis.
